Springvale Employment and Learning in Partnership with Firstsource Solutions and Business in the Community have recently celebrated the success of supporting a number of young unemployed people into fulltime employment.
The STRIVE employability program was developed after Business in the Community recognised a gap for growth within the customer service market, and created an opportunity for the unemployed, to work towards the goal of being considered for employment opportunities in partnership with Firstsource Solutions. Following this opportunity, Springvale Employment and Learning partnered with Business in the Community to design and deliver the American style “STRIVE” boot camp for DEL clients. This in turn supported potential employment opportunities within the globally operating business.
The STRIVE program consisted of a 2 week employability boot camp aimed at assisting a number of Springvale’s young clients with employability and workplace skills, vital to progressing in their future employment. The program consisted of activities and workshops designed to help build confidence and team work, alongside a focus on customer service. Clients also benefited from support in CV writing, interview skills and personal development.
At the end of the 2 week program, each client was given the opportunity to partake in a mock interview with Springvale and Firstsource. STRIVE was delivered to 13 clients, of which 11 of these successfully started full-time employment and have since moved into full-time apprenticeships.
Laura Hourcian, VP HR UK of Firstsource said; “The Strive boot camp is a great initiative that equips candidates with essential skills that are transferrable to the customer and contact centre industry. We worked closely to help prepare potential candidates for interviews and life within the workplace. As an employer of choice, we are committed to every employee’s personal development at the company and we would welcome future training and employment opportunities with Springvale.”
Employment and Learning Minister, Dr Stephen Farry said; “This is an excellent example of partnership working between Springvale, working on behalf of my Department, and Firstsource to develop innovative ways of working with unemployed young people to help them improve their chances of finding work. Both organisations are to be commended for delivering the STRIVE initiative.”
Springvale’s Chief Executive Aidan Sloan said; “Springvale are delighted to have successfully delivered on this program to a number of our clients and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to continually work with Firstsource. We would hope to get the chance to repeat this process in the future and wish the very best to all those who completed the STRIVE program. ”
