Ten years from now, we will be in a new era of
globalisation. The global village will be smaller. It
will include a handful of fully integrated, truly
global Indian BPO companies, providing a comprehensive
range of services, from the commoditised
to the most complex, from a multitude of
locations throughout the world. These companies
will create thousands of jobs across the globe, and
they will be an accepted part ofcommerce and
employment.
For corporates, the competitive benefits to be
gained from outsourcing will continue togrow: the
range of services and countries from where to
source them will continue to expand, and decisions
about what functions must stay in-house
and those that can beoutsourced will become
increasingly blurred. The flip side will be a commensurate
potential rise in business and financial
risk. Managing the global web of serviceproviders
will be a complex task, much as it is today for
manufacturing companies. Theresult is that the
future corporation will look very different. It’s
quite possible that within ten years, the Chief
Business Process Outsourcing Officer will have
emerged, to play a vital role in corporate
decision-making. |
